It is most useful for our customers that are familiar with our products and just need a reminder to help them order parts. Where do I start?

This seems to be one of the most commonly asked questions from people who want to motorize and/or automate their windows and skylights. You should download and print the following documents. They are in Adobe PDF format and require Adobe's free Acrobat Reader. If you don't have Acrobat Reader you can download it from Adobe's website.

The Planning Guide and Wiring Diagram (442KB) to get an overview of the skylight and window motorizing system and its components.
The Skylight Motorizing System Checklist (873KB) for motorizing skylights.
The Window Motorizing System Checklist (1.82MB) for motorizing casement and awning windows.

After you have printed the documents you can use them to help you determine if your windows and skylights can be motorized and also pick the components you need for your window and skylight motorizing systems. After you have planned your motorizing system and identified all of the components for your system come back to our website to place your order.

Free-Air Transformer

The picture is representative only. The physical size of the Free-Air Transformer may vary.

This 24VAC 50VA Free-Air Transformer can be used with either a Standard Motor Kit or a Skylight Motor Kit. An alternative Plug-In Wall Transformer can also be used when the Free-Air Transformer cannot be concealed.

As the name implies, this transformer must be installed so it is open to the air for cooling purposes. It cannot be enclosed or mounted inside of an electrical wall box.

The Free-Air Transformer is also shipped with LC-I Control Switch Kits and LC-II Control Switch Kits.

Plug-In Wall Transformer

The picture is representative only. The color and physical size of the Plug-In Wall Transformer may vary.

This 24VAC 50VA Plug-In Wall Transformer can be used with either a Standard Motor Kit or a Skylight Motor Kit. An alternate Free-Air Transformer can also be used.

The Plug-In Wall Transformer is also shipped with LC-I Control Switch Kits and LC-II Control Switch Kits.

Note: The term "Control Switch" refers to either the LC-I Control Switch Kit or the LC-II Control Switch Kit.

The Plug-In Wall Transformer provides a simpler installation and appears more aesthetic in situations where the larger Free-Air Transformer cannot be concealed. It also makes it easier to localize power-down should a Control Switch require service.
