Where do I start?
This seems to be one of the most commonly asked questions
from people who want to motorize and/or automate their windows
and skylights.
You should download and print the following documents. They
are in Adobe PDF format and require Adobe's free Acrobat
Reader. If you don't have Acrobat Reader you can
download
it from Adobe's website.
After you have printed the documents you can use them
to help you determine if your windows and skylights can
be motorized and also pick the components you need for your
window and skylight motorizing systems. After you have planned
your motorizing system and identified all of the components
for your system come back to our website to place your order.
That's it in a nutshell: plan your system, pick the window
and/or skylight motorizing kit, and finally select
the items to control the motors. If you ever need help you
can always contact us with this
form or send an e-mail to
and we'll help you select the items for your motorizing
system.

Honeywell ®
CT51A Thermostat
Wintrol is not qualified
or authorized to answer questions related to
thermostats controlling anything other than our
LC-II Control Switch. If you are having problems
with your HVAC please contact your local HVAC
representative or the HVAC manufacturer.
This picture is provided
for reference only. We are considering stocking
pre-modified Honeywell CT51A Thermostats. Watch
this item for further updates.
The LC-II Control Switch
can be controlled with the normally open and closed
contacts of a solid state (heat/cool) Honeywell
CT51A or Honeywell CT87B
Thermostat. The thermostat will override the wall
switches and accessories when connected. The Rain
Sensor, if it is installed, will close the unit(s)
even if the thermostat is calling for the motor
to open. When the Rain Sensor
dries off the unit(s) will reopen.
Up to 25 LC-II Control
Switches can be controlled from a single Honeywell
CT51A thermostat. However, the LC-II
Control Switches are not controlled individually.
Note: An LC-II Control
Switch cannot be used for localized
control when it is controlled by a Honeywell CT51A
Thermostat.
The Honeywell CT51A Thermostat must be modified
to work with the LC-II
Control Switch. You can download
the Honeywell CT51 Modification and Installation
Instructions (3.19MB) to see how easy it is
to use the Honeywell CT51A Thermostat in your window/skylight
motorizing system. The installation instructions
are in Adobe PDF format and require Adobe's free
Acrobat Reader. If you don't have Acrobat Reader
you can download
it from Adobe's website.
To see how the Honeywell CT51A Thermostat integrates
with all of our other components to form a complete
system for motorizing your casement, awning, and
skylight windows, take a look our wiring
diagram. It should give you a basic guideline
for planning and creating your own motorized window
and skylight system.
The Honeywell CT51A
Thermostat is not sold by Wintrol. However, it
is readily available in most hardware stores.
