Wintrol's Product Catalog

Required Control Items

This page provides a brief description of the required control items for Wintrol's M2100 Window / Skylight Motorizing System product line. It is most useful for our customers that are familiar with our products and just need a reminder to help them order parts. For those customers new to our products, or those of you that need more information about the product, visit the product's details page.

We also have Optional Control Items (IR Receiver, IR Transmitter, RS Module, Rain Sensor, thermostats, and X-10 Universal Module) and Replacement Control Items (LC-I Control Switch and LC-II Control Switch).

Where do I start?

This seems to be one of the most commonly asked questions from people who want to motorize and/or automate their windows and skylights. You should download and print the following documents. They are in Adobe PDF format and require Adobe's free Acrobat Reader. If you don't have Acrobat Reader you can download it from Adobe's website.

After you have printed the documents you can use them to help you determine if your windows and skylights can be motorized and also pick the components you need for your window and skylight motorizing systems. After you have planned your motorizing system and identified all of the components for your system come back to our website to place your order.

That's it in a nutshell: plan your system, pick the window and/or skylight motorizing kit, and finally select the items to control the motors. If you ever need help you can always contact us with this form or send an e-mail to and we'll help you select the items for your motorizing system.

LC-I Control Switch KitLC-I Control Switch Kit

If you need to replace your existing LC-I Control Switch, click here.

This kit contains:
A microprocessor-based motor controller that can be mounted in a standard electrical box.
 A white face plate.
 A 24VAC 50VA Free-Air Transformer with a mounting plate (shown in picture) or a 24VAC 50VA Plug-In Wall Transformer.

The LC-I Control Switch can operate up to three motors (three Standard Motor Kits or Skylight Motor Kits or one Standard Motor Kit with up to two Motorized Locks). When opened or closed, each window moves in sequence to the same position. Independent control of a single window in a group wired to a common LC-I Control Switch is not possible.

The LC-I Control Switch Kit should only be ordered when the lowest cost operation of up to three motors is desired. The LC-I Control Switch cannot be controlled from an RS Module, IR Receiver, or Rain Sensor and it cannot be integrated into a home automation system. If you need to control your windows or skylights with an RS Module, IR Receiver, Rain Sensor, or home automation system you should consider the LC-II Control Switch Kit instead.

Visit the LC-I Control Switch Kit's details page for more information about this product and its applications.

You can download the Motor System Installation Instructions (1.26MB) to familiarize yourself with the LC-I Control Switch installation. The installation instructions are in Adobe PDF format and require Adobe's free Acrobat Reader. If you don't have Acrobat Reader you can download it from Adobe's website.

To see how an LC-I Control Switch integrates with all of our other components to form a complete system for motorizing your casement, awning, and skylight windows, take a look our wiring diagram. It should give you a basic guideline for planning and creating your own motorized window and skylight system.
